Double Stuffed

August 1, Sunday,
Right after church we opened the Seventies Hall for the Murset family who were having a new granddaughter blessed there. They named her "London", and it was a pleasure to be there with them. They are very nice people, and our neighbors.
We got called on our "on call" day, and served in the Seventies Hall in the afternoon. Greg is quite a preacher and is in his element here in Nauvoo. He loves talking to everyone, and sharing all he knows and his testimony.
At the evening Zone Conference, Sister Ludwig announced 2215 grandchildren of the missionaries who are praying for their grandparents.
Her talk was of Oreos. The white stuff in the middle is the glue that holds it all together, charity.
She talked about ingredients that make charity, and then challenged, "Can you be double-stuffed?"
President Ludwig talked about the Atonement. The word is mentioned just once in the Bible, but 55 times in the Book of Mormon. Repentance is paying the deductible. Atonement pays the rest.

Aug. 2, Monday,
It was a lovely day serving in the Seventies Hall. S/Hamblin was interested in my Sarah Leavitt book because of the Hamblin family connection. S/Johnston is a sister of Dr. Hammer of Shelley, was raised in Woodville, and knows the Balmforths.
At our Rendezvous performance, we did Peter and Abigail pretty much perfectly. It must take about ten times to get it just right.
I have pondered the article from the July Ensign, p. 30, by E/Koeliker on the perils of adulation. The quote by President Hinckley seems so appropriate to what we are doing. Plenty of people give praise for what we do (such as Peter and Abigail) but that shouldn't be necessary. It is nice to acknowledge each other, but we shouldn't have to bring attention to all that we do. Just give the Lord credit for whatever good is accomplished.
