Nauvoo Miracles

There are many stories given about how people were called to this mission, or how families were blessed, or incidents that are labeled "Nauvoo Miracles". Here is a story by Sister Myers (they are our age), as she told it at Sacrament Meeting:
"Do not discount the prayers of young children. About four years ago, the stake president asked all of the Primary children to pray that their grandparents could go on a mission. We always thought we would go someday, but were not yet in a position to be able to do so. I would bring it up but my husband would change the subject. Our circumstances began to change, and he jokingly said, Well, if we could sell our motor home, we could go. Since gas was $4.00 a gallon at the time, he felt safe. Our son listed it on Craig's list, and within a week someone called. This motor home was started, and then it would have to raise up 18 inches to be able to drive it down the road. When the people came to look at it, it wouldn't raise, and it had always worked perfectly. We tried everything, and it just wouldn't work. The Bishop finally "happened" to drive by, and he stopped. As we talked to him, my husband told him, We were going to go on a mission, but now... And just then it raised the 18 inches! The bishop said, Well, I heard you and the Lord heard you and now you are committed. The motor home was sold, and our circumstances quickly became such that we were able to submit our papers."
The Myers are just now finishing an 18-month mission. He is the raccoon-and-animal-loving Elder across the street. She is the one I walk with most mornings.
