Land of Lincoln

July 6, and 7, Highlights:
I play the piano for Prep meetings every Tuesday, at least for this month.
You can tell it is Pageant month, we had a wild time at Pioneer Pastimes, with 538 people through there in one day. A record so far this summer. Also, near 3,000 people attended the first night of Pageant.
We had our first inside performance of "Sunset by the Mississippi" because of rain.
Anna Amanda was an adventure. Two packed shows, and during the second one, the fire alarm went off in the middle of a song. Elder Camp cut us off and had everyone go outside. The workers downstairs had been sawing brick, and the dust set off the alarm. By law, we had to evacuate. After a few minutes, we all came back in, and finished the show.
I was able to get an appointment, and got my hair cut, which is much better!
Our second Peter and Abigail vignette went just fine. One slight goof, but not too obvious. Maybe next time.....
When "George and Agatha" (aka the Muellers) were doing their part, the carved duck went flying out into the audience, and landed at someone's feet. It was hilarious, and now we are known as the flying duck cast.

July 8, Thursday, Preparation Day
We organized a group to go with us to Springfield, Illinois, to see the Lincoln sites. We arrived at the Museum about 9:30 after a three hour drive. We stayed until about noon, and it was a wonderful museum.
We walked through the Old State Capitol, done up as in Lincoln's day.
E/S Storey, and S/Steadman were with us and we had lunch at a soup and sandwich place called "The Feed Store". It was yummy.
A couple of miles from there is the tomb. We had a good tour with the guides answering some of our questions.
Inside the tomb, it is cool and dim. We had a very good day. You wouldn't think you could talk for six hours traveling in a car with strangers, but we sure did. And now we are friends.
